Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about our services and process.

What is LIVEABLE?

LIVEABLE is New Zealand's only integrated team combining Occupational Therapy, Architectural design, and Master Builder construction to create homes that support independence, safety, and everyday living.

Who are your services for?

We work with people of all ages, including children with disabilities, people recovering from injury, individuals experiencing functional change, families, and older adults who want to remain safe and independent at home.

Do you do new builds or renovations?

Both. We specialise in new homes, major renovations, and larger home modification projects that require thoughtful planning and design.

Do home modifications affect resale value?

Yes! Many well-designed home modifications can enhance resale value by making a home safer, more functional, and appealing to a wider range of buyers. Features such as level-entry showers, step-free access, improved lighting, and adaptable layouts are increasingly sought after because they support people at all stages of life.

What if my needs change after the work is done?

We design with change in mind wherever possible, so spaces can flex with you over time. If your circumstances change significantly down the track, we are happy to come back.

What areas of New Zealand do you work in?

Auckland and the wider region. We are open to discussing projects further afield on a case-by-case basis, particularly larger renovations and new builds.

Do home modifications require building consent?

It depends on the scope of the work. Many minor modifications (like grab rails, minor ramps, or simple wet-area bathroom adaptations) may fall under Schedule 1 exemptions of the NZ Building Act and not require building consent. However, larger structural changes, structural load-bearing alterations, or home extensions will. Our integrated team will assess your requirements and manage all necessary building consent applications on your behalf.
